Lisa Marie Presley says the new 'Elvis' movie has finally done her dad's story 'right'

"It's been one disappointment after the other, in terms of people portraying my father."

The upcoming biopic about Elvis Presley is already impressing a lot of people - including the King’s very own daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.

Baz Luhrmann, the director of 'ELVIS', shared a video on Twitter of Lisa Marie speaking at a screening for the film.

Lisa Marie talks to the crowd about her dissatisfaction with past portrayals of her father in movies and TV.

"In my life, it's been one disappointment after the other, in terms of people portraying my father," she said.

"In various films or attempts to, bless their hearts, I'm sure they meant well.

"I'm sure they meant well, but let me just tell you something, at this point, I tell you this with all my heart," she continued.

This is not the first time the ‘Jailhouse Rock’ artist’s daughter has praised the film.

Last month, she posted to Twitter, saying she had seen the movie twice and found it “nothing short of spectacular".

She believes that Austin Butler, who plays Elvis, deserves an Oscar for his performance, and she will “eat [her] own foot” if he doesn’t win it.

The respect and admiration Luhrmann shows for her father seems to be what Lisa Marie enjoys most about the film. The 54-year-old heir to Elvis’ estate finished her series of tweets by thanking the director for the portrayal.

We cannot wait to see the film, especially after all the love that has been shown for it by someone so close to the iconic artist.

'ELVIS’ comes to NZ Cinemas on the 23rd of June.
