Leon Russell has passed away at 74

Singer and songwriter, Leon Russell has died aged 74.
 
He had suffered health problems over the last few years, he had to have surgery in 2010 to stop leaking brain fluid and suffered a heart attack earlier this year.
"He was recovering from heart surgery in July and looked forward to getting back on the road in January," said his wife, Jan Bridges.
 
Russell had recorded over 35 albums and was an incredible songwriter, writing many well known songs for other artists.
 
His 'A song for you' was recorded by Joe Croker, The Carpenters, Temptations, Neil Diamond, Dusty Springfield, Willie Nelson and many others.
 
He was known as 'the master of space and time' in the 70's.
 
He last performance was July 10 in Nashville.
