Aretha Franklin returns to the church she started her career for special performance
Almost 70 years since her first performance at her father's church, Aretha Franklin returns to perform again, shortly before she had announced her retirement.
It was at New Bethel Baptist Church where she stood up on stage, a young girl singing gospel at her father's church in Detroit, Michigan.
Singing a six-minute rendition of “Rock of Ages” for Time Magazine, the music legend says: “I just felt it. In my spirit today.”
Aretha Franklin became the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, after hits such as "Respect" and "Natural Woman" have made her a household name. The Queen of Soul was also included on Time Magazine's list of 'Women Who Are Changing the World'.
