Hello Sailor frontman Graham Brazier dies
Kiwi singer/songwriter Graham Brazier has died, a month after the 63-year-old suffered a heart attack.
Brazier found fame in the 1970s as the frontman of rock band Hello Sailor, who had hits with 'Gutter Black' and 'Blue Lady'.
Two of his songs – 'Blue Lady' and solo hit 'Billy Bold' – were voted into the top 100 New Zealand songs of all time by APRA members in 2001. 'Gutter Black' went on to become the theme tune to hit drama series Outrageous Fortune.
Brazier's heart attack last month saw Hello Sailor's 40th anniversary reunion tour cancelled.
Fans, many of them musicians themselves, have taken to Twitter to pay their respects.
The New Zealand Herald at the time reported the band's September 18 gig at the Powerstation in Auckland was going to be a benefit concert, with proceeds going towards his recovery.
A family spokesperson told the paper today he died this morning at an Auckland rehab facility.
