Italian chef Antonio Carluccio dies aged 80
Italian chef and restaurateur, Antonio Carluccio has sadly died aged 80.
He was considered the godfather of Italian gastronomy in the UK, by many people.
A statement was written on Wednesday afternoon saying: “It is with great sadness that we announce that Commendatore Antonio Carluccio OBE sadly passed away this morning.”
He wrote 22 books and starred in TV shows including including Antonio Carluccio’s Italian Feast and the BBC2 series Two Greedy Italians.
He opened his first restaurant in the UK in 1981, the Neal Street restaurant in London’s Covent Garden.
He will be greatly missed.
