Fair go for charter schools?

Is the jury still out when it comes to chart schools? Or have you made up your mind?

The first five schools to open under the policy have been revealed and will open in February next year. They are:

Vanguard Military School, Albany, Auckland
Years 11-13, with a roll of 108-192, targeted at disengaged Maori, Pasifika and low-socioeconomic students, it is sponsored by Advance Training Centres Limited.

South Auckland Middle School, South Auckland
Years 7-10, roll of 90-120, targeted at Maori, Pasifika and low-socioeconomic students, it is sponsored by Villa Education Trust, with sporting partners such as Auckland Rugby Union and Wynton Rufer Soccer School of Excellence.

The Rise UP Academy, Mangere, South Auckland
Years 1-6, roll of 50-100, targeted at Maori and Pasifika students, it is sponsored by Rise UP Trust.

Te Kura Hourua ke Whangaruru, Whangaruru, Northland
Years 9-14, roll of 71-128, targeted at disengaged, Maori and Pasifika students, it is sponsored by Nga Parirau Matauranga Trust.

Te Kura Hourua o Whangarei Terenga Paraoa, Whangarei
Years 7-13, roll of 50-300, targeted at Maori students.
