Prominent Maori have filed a Waitangi tribunal claim over New Zealand's involvement in the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement.
The group, including former MP Hone Harawira and constitutional lawyer and Treaty of Waitangi expert Moana Jackson, allege the Government is breaching the Treaty of Waitangi and failing to protect Maori intellectual property rights by negotiating the TPPA.
They believe a final decision on the agreement is imminent and have lodged an application in Wellington for an urgent hearing.
