They had been training in secret in their local village hall for months; they were selected purely on their willingness to do the dance; and finally the oldest flash mob in the world came to town... Auckland City, to be exact. Striking bang on midday today, shoppers and workers outside Westfield Downtown were treated to a performance to remember. A band of over-65s gathered on the pavement outside the shopping centre, which is over the road from Britomart train station, and danced. At the end of the song, as quickly as they had appeared, the troupe disappeared, leaving the witnesses to go about their days. 9th August 2012.
