Will free contraception for beneficiaries improve society?


Will free contraception for those receiving benefits encourage people in to work? Will it save money?

Starting July, the government will spend $1 million on doctors' visits and long-acting reversible contraception for beneficiaries aged 16-18.

Social Development Minister Paula Bennett says the changes are aimed at reducing the amount of women having children while receiving welfare.

Will the giving out of contraception have any positive impact on society?
