Documentary looks at the social stigma of single women in China

Laetitia Schoofs, the Director of Fallen Flowers, Thick Leaves, is in New Zealand for Doc Edge 2017 and joins Ryan Bridge to talk about the sexual politics and social stigma that surrounds women in China who are single, childless and over 27 years old; they are called 'leftovers', a term used in China since 2007.

The film follows two Chinese women who are considered a social problem as they go through the world of today's Chinese sexual revolution.

Fallen Flowers, Thick Leaves made it's New Zealand premiere at the Wellington Doc Edge Festival, and is now headed to Auckland at the end of May.
