Activist John Minto has backed Auckland Council and Mayor Phil Goff’s ban on controversial speakers Stefan Molyneux and Lauren Southern from speaking at council venues.
Mr Minto says while he believes they should be allowed to come to New Zealand and say what they want to say the council doesn’t have to and shouldn’t provide the venue in which they say it.
He does however concede that the claim that this is a security matter is a false one.
We should not be providing venues for those who deliver hate speech against particular groups within the community
Auckland Mayor Phil Goff released a statement: “Southern and Molyneux are free to speak at a private venue of their choosing. I have no further comment to make as this matter is now before the courts.”
Mr Minto spoke to Ryan Bridge and David Seymour on RadioLIVE Drive.
