Young Kiwi Jack Candlish pushing to make sustainable surfboards

Drive 28/12/2018

Liz Gunn talks with the AMP National Scholarship recipient in 2017 Jack Candlish, who wants to build sustainable surfboards that help protect the integrity of the environment.

He calls himself 'the nerdiest surfboard maker in the world', but Jack of Organic Dynamic Surfboards wants to make a difference.

The making of one single surfboard can produce up to 280kg of carbon emissions, and are made from polyurathane foam and polyester resin - both of which are toxic, carcinogenic, non-biodegradable and non-recyclable.
