Regular acts of kindness can actually improve your health

Today, November 13, is World Kindness Day.

Which has got us thinking… how kind are we? To ourselves and to each other?

Everyone likes to think they are kind. A simple greeting or a smile in the office to passers-by, or maybe letting people in front of us on the motorway or in line for a coffee. But maybe if we reach out with kindness more each day and proactively make kindness a priority, we really can make the world a better place.

We know, it sounds a bit cheesy. But it works.

Lynda Hallinan from RadioLIVE Long Lunch talks with Jennifer Willis-Riveria, a kindness expert (yes, that’s a real thing) and Professor of Communication Studies at the University Of Wisconsin River Falls about the positive consequences of performing acts of kindness.

These acts, if done regularly, don’t just have benefits for the person you bestow them on but they can also, in turn, give ourselves immense benefits such as improved physical health to increased emotional wellbeing.
