A new development near Pukekohe is set to unveil its show homes to the public in a grand opening this week.
The 300ha site, called Paerata Rise, invites the public to the unveiling of the new multi-use development and its new Rise ‘n Shine Café on Saturday from 11am.
Guests can tour show homes and also enjoy an array of fun family-friendly activities like face painting and food trucks.
The exciting new development will include 4,500 affordable homes on land that was once owned by Auckland's Wesley College.
Developers Grafton Downs and the Wesley College Trust Board named the development Paerata Rise for its local significance in te reo Maori, translating as “horizon of the rata”.
Paerata Rise will offer residents much more than a house, with the new community to include a retail sector and Paerata School.
Grafton Downs executive director Chris Johnston says Paerata Rise will be more like a town than just another housing development.
“What we’re doing is bringing together the best parts of the quintessential Kiwi lifestyle,” said Mr Johnston.
