Night talk - Mitch Harris opening comments, Thursday 26th July 2018.

Tonight: A goat had to be put down after being tasered 13 times by a police officer in Oamaru.

Video footage was released by police today after several investigations had been conducted into the incident, which happened in December 2016.

This included an independent investigation by the Ministry for Primary Industries under the Animal Welfare Act 1999.

The video shows what police describe as a 'feral goat' being tasered in a garage.

Are goats really that dangerous that they need to be tasered?

Also tonight: Motueka man Greg Rzesniowiecki has set up a petition asking the NZ Government to give WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange asylum in New Zealand.

Rzesniowiecki thinks Assange is right to fear extradition, and is calling on the New Zealand Government to provide him "with permanent political asylum in New Zealand, including a guarantee of safe passage from the United Kingdom to New Zealand".

Is this a good idea or a stupid idea? You can sign the petition here.

Night Talk with Mitch Harris, 8pm - 12am Monday-Thursday nights on RadioLIVE, and streaming live to the rova app on Android and iPhone.
