Night Talk - Mitch Harris opening comments, Thursday 16th August 2018.

Tonight: There are calls for commercial whitebait fishing to be banned in New Zealand. Do you agree?

Forest & Bird have launched a campaign to ban commercial whitebaiting, saying the native species is on track for extinction due to habitat, climate change and fishing.

The Department of Conservation is watching closely, with four species either threatened or at risk. Conservation Minister Eugenie Sage says a working group will be giving her recommendations about improving whitebait management by the end of the year.

Also tonight: Auckland businessman and blogger Steve Braunias has unleashed on online tirade at Auckland Transport after buses in the city have started to play music.

He said on twitter today: "An update on this monstrous war against silence. I asked the driver what the story was and she said it was her music, playing on her ipod, and if I had a problem with that, too bad."

Do you have an issue with music being played on buses?

Night Talk with Mitch Harris, 8pm - 12am Monday to Thursday nights on RadioLIVE, and streaming live to the rova app on Android and iPhone.
