Friday Night Cocktail: Mulled wine

Can you call Mulled Wine a cocktail? Well it has multiple ingredients & delicious & you can make it by the vat so I'm gonna say yes... plus it's FREEZING so I'm gonna say double yes...

Hansells All Natural Blackcurrant, Ginger & Orange Mulled Wine:

750ml Shiraz
150ml Hansells All Natural Fruit Syrup, Blackcurrant, Cranberry with a hint of Basil
60ml Brandy/Whisky
1 whole peel of Orange
Couple of orange wedges
Tablespoon of freshly sliced Ginger
2 Cinnamon Quills
3 Star Anise
5 Cloves

  • Heat spices in pot
  • Drop to low temperature
  • Add syrup, wine and the brandy/whisky
  • Slowly (emphasise on slowly, it brings the flavours out more) heat up the mixture to a simmer, then remove off heat
  • Strain into a glass and top with fresh orange slices and ginger to taste
