Christmas Nuts n' Bolts - A sweet and savory snack mix packed with cereal, pretzels and nuts.

2 1/2 cups (75 grams) corn chex cereal
2 1/2 cups (75 grams) rice cereal
2 cups (60 grams) pretzel nuggets or mini pretzels
1 cup (142 grams) lightly salted peanuts
1 cup (100 grams) shelled pecans
1 cup (120 grams) cashews
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1/4 cup (80 grams) maple syrup
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  1. Preheat the oven to 120 degrees

  2. Toss together the chex, pretzels, and nuts in a large bowl. In another bowl whisk together the butter, maple syrup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder and onion powder. Pour over the snack mix and toss to combine.

  3. Spread out on a roasting dish and bake for 60-75 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes, until mix is toasted and dry. Let cool completely, then transfer to an airtight container. Store for up to 1 week.

Note: You can omit any of the snack mix ingredients as long as you substitute something else. The idea is to keep the ratio of snack mix to butter seasoning the same. Also, be sure your oven is fully preheated before you put the snack mix in. The initial surge of heat to preheat the oven will burn the snack mix in a heartbeat.

Freezer-Friendly Instructions: This can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Cool completely before freezing
