Horticulture NZ putting levy to a vote

Rural Exchange 08/07/2018

It’s not just Beef+Lamb NZ wanting more from its levy payers.

Horticulture NZ is asking growers to vote to renew the levy funding that keeps the organisation going, with voting papers being sent out this week.

The levy cost is just 14 cents per $100 of growers produce profit.

This funds four core areas including resource management, biosecurity and labour requirements.

The organisation's CEO Mike Chapman says holding meetings around the country to discuss these levies are crucial.

"It's the only way to keep what we're doing focused and real," he says.
