Farmers encouraged to enter environmental awards

Rural Exchange 12/08/2018

Entries are open for the 2018-19 Ballance Farm Environment Awards and farmers across the country are being encouraged to enter.

The awards are organised by the New Zealand Farm Environment Trust, a charity set up to promote sustainable farming and growing.

General manager James Ryan told RadioLIVE's Rural Exchange the awards provide a platform to promote great farming.

"There's a lot of chitter-chatter about the need for amazing and humble farmers to tell their story, so we think that the Ballance Farm Environment Awards provides them with a great platform to do that."

All farmers and growers are eligable to enter, but ideally they'll be running a financially sustainable business unit, Mr Ryan says.
