DairyNZ help tackle global issues at IDF World Dairy Summit

Rural Exchange 27/10/2018

The International Dairy Federation (IDF) World Dairy Summit is an annual event that helps the IDF work with international dairy organisations to set business and trading standards.

One of the biggest conference themes continues to be sustainability.

Dairy NZ CEO Tim Mackle says water is the 'number one' issue in New Zealand, but that differs overseas.

"When you go overseas they're only talking about climate change, it's about greenhouse gases," he says.

Mr Mackle added that sometimes we hear the same conversations about climate change in New Zealand over and over.

"I don't think we're barking up the wrong tree, water still is an important issue globally,"

"We've just got to watch that we understand the big issues globally, and not just at home," Mr Mackle says.
