Hamilton is expecting hundreds of farmers and rural professionals in attendance at the inaugural ‘Beyond Bovis’ seminar later this month.
The seminar will be held in conjunction with the Waikato A&P Show, on 27 October.
A&P director of showing Doug Lineham told Rural Exchange that the goal is to help rebuild and strengthen the New Zealand cattle industry after the national outbreak of Mycoplasma bovis.
Mr Lineham hopes the seminar leaves farmers feeling happier and more confident about their farming enterprises.
The goal is to help rebuild and strengthen the New Zealand cattle industry.
High-profile kenote speakers will include Agriculture Minister Damien O’Connor, DairyNZ, AgFirst’s Bob Thomson, and Federated Farmers’ Waikato chair Andrew McGiven.
The seminar, which is open to anyone, will be held in place of the cattle events which have been cancelled at this year’s show as a precautionary measure to prevent transmission of M bovis.
As for M bovis, Mr Lineham has a simple message for farmers.
“We’ve got to confront it, we’ve got to face it, we’ve got to work with it.”
