NZ Expo to showcase the future of effluent systems

Rural Exchange 10/11/2018

Almost 100 exhibitors from across New Zealand are scheduled to appear at the NZ Effluent Expo in two weeks.

The two-day event at Mystery Creek will feature most of the products and services available to dairy farmers to learn ways to modify and upgrade their on-farm effluent systems.

Farmers will have the opportunity to consult with industry experts and accredited effluent system designers at the expo in Hamilton on the 27th & 28th November.

Event organiser Amanda Hodgson has been running the event for five years, taking control after the Waikato Regional Council decided they no longer wanted to be responsible.

"We thought it was a really important event to the industry. It's just providing the ongoing, continued education in this forever changing environment," she says.

Over the two day event, as well as being able to see all the exhibitors, there are four industry runs seminars including;

  • Fonterra on sustainability and the future of good management practices
  • Dairy Effluent Storage Calculator
  • Water use and efficiency on dairy farms
  • Effluent options for smaller herd dairy farms

After the seminars on day one, Damien O'Connor will be present for a question and answer session, hosted by Rabobank's Emma Higgins.
