Anna Connell joins Vaughn Davis talking apps of the week.

Open banking is coming but are the banks open to it?

Your own banks have a lot of data, so open bankjing is the idea that you yourself own your own data.

Jude is a Kiwi made app that does bank stuff for you but you have to break your bank’s terms and conditions to use it

Jude amalgamates all of a person's data - banking, insurance, Trade Me or Netflix - and works to make sure bills are paid on time.

It virtually cuts the bank out of the process.

Kiwi 15yo crowned world’s powerpoint champ!

Fifteen-year-old Tristan Mona, an Avondale College student, beat more than 760,000 competitors from over 100 countries in a timed and graded exam to recreate a presentation put together by Certiport and Microsoft.

Vaughn reckons it’s a bit disappointing that the competition is just how fast you can do a thing that’s already been done… rather than creating something new

Tristan's tips for creating a great PowerPoint:

1. Make use of slide markers

2. Include animations

3. Transitions make it interesting

4. Use different forms of media

Vaughn’s rules for creating a great powerpoint

1.      Ideal number of slides is zero

2.      Ideal number of words per slide is zero

Kia mataara makes pronunciation ka pai

This cool as app Vaughns been using called Kiwadigital allows you to Touch to hear words, get a quick mihi and learn how to say it properly.

Looks like Kiwa has sold the same app to every other company in town? There’s an MIT one, a Fonterra one, a Doc one…

It covers protocol as well as language
