July 14 marks a special day for ocean and marine lovers - it’s Shark Awareness Day. Who better to talk about sharks than the Shark Man himself, Riley Elliot? Sharks play an essential role in keeping the seas healthy and productive, Riley calls them the doctors and garbage men of the sea. Whilst no-one is suggesting we go out and hug a Great White on Shark Awareness Day, it’s the least we can do to respect these wonderful creatures and let them be.

Silver Scroll nominees announced
Hendon’s Mitchell Ley joined Carly Flynn with the latest from the music world. The APRA Silver Scrolls longlist has been announced this week with the top 20 songs including artists Tami Neilsen, Kings, Robinson, and Marlon Williams. From here, voting will cut that down to a top 5 with the winner announced on October 4th.

World first diabetes and obesity study
We live in one of the best countries in the world with access to some of the best produce and yet we have some of the worst obesity and diabetes rates in the western world. So why doesn’t our food environment match out living environment? Professor Boyd Swinburn has just completed a world first study that ran over 3 years and joined Weekend Life to break it down.
Celebrity chef Josh Emett
He’s one of our busiest Kiwi chefs with restaurants in Queenstown, Hamilton and Auckland, a couple of kids and collaborations, and is known mainly for his delicious Malaysian inspired cuisine. Celebrity chef Josh Emett is once again partnering with Clicquot for the Long Lunch series at Rata Restaurant; a four-course degustation lunch inspired by Clicquot Colourama and the Veuve Clicquot range including NV, Vintage and Rosé.
Test driving the Alfa Romeo
Motoring expert Sandy Myhre has just come back from an Alfa Romeo test drive in Australia, saying the drive to her sister’s farm was very comfortable. Her biggest note is that road manners in Victoria are far superior to New Zealand, even so much as keeping the road toll down.
