Kiwi comedian Rhys Darby infuses humour in new children’s book

Weekend Life 06/10/2018

Kiwi comedian and actor Rhys Darby has added a new string to his bow with the release of his first-ever children’s book.

The LA-based comedian wrote and illustrated the mystery-comedy book, The Top Secret Undercover Notes of Buttons McGinty, which launched in Australia and New Zealand this month.

“I have a very childlike mentality and sense of humour so it just made sense to start writing for kids,” he told RadioLIVE.

As the father of two children, it was only appropriate for Mr Darby’s youngest son to get the first read.

“[My son] would take it with him everywhere. He’d take it to school. We’d go to restaurants, he’d be reading it. It made me so proud.”
