Movie critic and reviewer James Croot joins Graeme Hill to delve into the Documentary Edge Festival, including some great artist biopics on George Michael and Steven Spielberg.

Spielberg, directed by Susan Lacy, draws on a cast of Hollywood A-listers including George Lucas, Leonardo DiCaprio and composer John Williams.

It features 30 hours of exclusive interviews with Spielberg himself where he talks about his childhood and lifelong obsession with filmmaking.

Mr Croot describes Steven Spielberg as bringing things to life.

“It’s everything about these films that have imprinted on us.”

He says for Steven Spielberg to have directed Schindlers List and Jurrasic Park in the same year is a stunning achievement.

George Michael: Freedom is a mysterious documentary which looks at the formative period in the late singer’s life and career.

The film features never before seen footage from Michael’s private life and reveal how he strove to become one of the most influential recording artists of all time.

The Documentary Edge Festival starts in Wellington on Wednesday May 9.
