The influential Pete Shelley, lead singer of one of punk's original bands, has died at 63 from a heart attack.

The prolific songwriter inspired generations of musicians with his band and as a solo artist.

Shelley formed the Buzzcocks in 1975 after seeing the Sex Pistols play.
