Animal Health: Prevention methods for facial eczema

Rural Exchange 02/12/2017

Facial eczema is a growing problem as the pasture-driven disease spreads into new parts of the country.

Farm Source technical sales representative Cam Neeld joins Rural Exchange to discuss treatment options to protect animals from the disease.

“We don’t have a cure for facial eczema,” says Mr Neeld. “We only have the ability of prevention.”

Mr Neeld explains that a zinc oxide treatment in the drench or feed can be a very effective way of getting the right dose into the cow.

With the rising temperatures across the country, it’s important for farmers to know their treatment options to prevent facial eczema.
