Van "Ivan" Morrison received a knighthood this weekend from the Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace.
Morrison received the honour for his services to the music industry and tourism in Northern Ireland.
He emerged as an artist with the group Them in the 1960s, before he went on to do his own thing, while collecting many awards over the years.
'For 53 years I've been in the business - that's not bad for a blue-eyed soul singer from east Belfast" said the musician who went on to comment that playing in small clubs is what he enjoys the most.
Prince Charles asked Sir Morrison if he was planning to retire any time soon, to which he responded, "No, I'm not, I'm going to keep it going while I can."
He was joined at the ceremony by daughter, Shana Morrison, who is also a musician.
