Celebrity deaths are doubling compared since 2015

More celebrities are dying than ever, according to a study of BBC obituaries of this year so far.
Only four months into the new year, we have already lost the likes of Victoria Wood, Prince, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Merle Haggard, Ronnie Corbett, Patty Duke, Gogi Grant, Keith Emerson, George Martin - and that's only to name a few. This news has come as a shock to many, and has also raised curiosity as to why so many famous names are passing away so young.
Obituaries editor Nick Serpell believes the raise in figures are due to a boom in celebrity status during the late 1950s and 1960s.
"Through the 50s we had television, that brought more famous people in people's rooms, music in particular, we had the growth of rock and roll music," he told Daily Mail.

"All these people, and the rise and growth of celebrity if you like, are reaching that period in their seventies and eighties where they are going to start to die and I think that is what's causing this."
