Devastated fans have gathered outside the home of George Michael to pay tribute to the pop icon.
The singer was found dead by his partner on Christmas Day, and it's believed heart failure was to blame.
It was at Michael's home in Oxfordshire where the iconic pop star spent his final moments.
As news of his death filtered through the community, the normally quiet riverside property was suddenly flooded with mourners. His doorstep quickly became a shrine. His fans left stunned that at just 53 their idol had died.
Around the corner at the local pub, owner Vanessa Cooke was pouring pints for mourners. The pop star was a regular there, and a popular but quiet member of the community.
"Nobody bothered him, but I think that's what he wanted; he wanted his privacy," says Ms Cooke. "He was a very private person and the village respected that, but we were very proud to have him as our resident."
There were similar tributes outside his London home. Fans stacked up flowers and messages against Michael's front gate, many of whom grew up with the singer's catchy lyrics.
The 53-year-old, who is believed to have died from heart failure, was discovered by his partner, Fadi Fawaz. He took to twitter to express his grief.
"It's a Christmas I will never forget - finding your partner dead peacefully in bed first thing in the morning. I will never stop missing you."
It's still not known what triggered his heart problems, but one neighbour in Oxfordshire says he'd looked sick in the weeks leading up to his death.
TMZ claims the superstar had been struggling with his weight, publishing photographs taken in September.
Despite his death, his music legacy lives on. His hits are already back at the top of the charts.
