Hudson shared her experience after the crew wrapped up their filming in February, expressing how overwhelmed she is at the time and is extremely grateful to be chosen by Aretha herself to be in the film. "It was my honor , to honor the Queens request! The one and only Queen of soul #ArethaFranklin #respectMovie."
The actress also delivered a stunning performance of Franklin's 'Young, Gifted and Black' during BET's virtual awards ceremony.
Hudson had previously won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Effie White in Dreamgirls (2006) and portrayed as Grizabella in the 2019 film adaptation of Cats.
Franklin had passed away in August 2018 at the age of 76 after a long battle against pancreatic cancer.
