John Lennon and Yoko Ono had called New York City their home for many years. His wife still continues to live in The Dakota apartment building at the corner of Central Park West and W.72 Street, which the couple had shared for years.
Strawberry Fields and a lovely Imagine mosaic is situated just directed across the street in Central Park. Now, another Lennon tribute has popped up on 79th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam Ave..
Community artist, Carmen Paulino, has crocheted a tree, calling it the John Lennon Tree. Conveniently enough, it's located by in front of a yarn store called Knitty City, which also provided Paulino the materials for the art installation.
"I've always volunteered and been involved in the community," Paulino told West Side Rag. "When the pandemic came, I thought the Lennon Tree Project would be good for people who were stuck at home and wanted to do something, people who were lonely and had lost their jobs."
