Rod Stewart has encouraged fans to join him in singing his hit song ‘Sailing’ to cheer on America’s Cup. In Rod’s video message, he said that he has a soft spot for us kiwi’s as his kids are half kiwi.
“It’s really wonderful the boat race is going ahead, and you deserve it with all these horrible things going on throughout the world.”
He will be performing to celebrate the start of America’s Cup which was meant to take place this Saturday however due to Auckland’s lockdown it was moved to Saturday the 13th of March. Rod’s performance will be beamed onto a big screen at Auckland's America’s Cup Village between 2.30-3.30pm.
‘I’m excited to be performing for America’s Cup in New Zealand and Sailing is the perfect fit,” he says.”With fans being unable to travel, I’m hoping that this special performance will remind us that we’re all in this together.’
