Bay City Rollers' frontman Les McKeown has passed away at the age of 65.
The news was shared via the singer's Twitter account on behalf of his widow, Keiko and son, Jubei.
"It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our beloved husband and father Leslie Richard McKeown," the message read. "Leslie died suddenly at home on Tuesday 20 April 2021. We are currently making arrangements for his funeral and ask for privacy after the shock of our profound loss."
The cause of death has yet to be disclosed.
McKeown was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on 12th November 1955. He joined Bay City Rollers in 1973 while he was still a teen and fronted the group throughout their most prolific period of success, scoring several Top 10 albums in the UK, including the famed Rollin' and Once Upon a Star.
He left the group shortly in 1978 and kickstarted his solo career. In 2015, he reunited with the group for a series of reunion shows and continued to tour as part of Les McKeown's Bay City Rollers until 2020.
