Sad news to come out today that Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts has died at age 80.
Rolling Stones shared the news to their Facebook, releasing a statement from Watts' spokesperson that read:
It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Charlie Watts. He passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family.
Charlie was a cherished husband, father and grandfather and also, as a member of the Rolling Stones, one of the greatest drummers of his generation.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Watts would miss the Stones' upcoming US tour as he was recovering from an unspecified medical condition.
Tributes have poured in from fellow musicians - including Ringo Starr, Sir Elton John, Paul McCartney and more - paying their respects to Watts, celebrating the life of one of the greatest drummers of all time.
