Penny Marshall, from the hit sitcom, Laverne and Shirley, sadly died Monday night (US time) at her California home. She was 75.
Yes she did (die)... peacefully at her Hollywood Hills home," said her publicist Michelle Bega. "She passed away from complications from diabetes.
Marshall's was not only a talented actress, but director too, and broke the male-dominated industry.
A statement from her family, referring to blue-collar protagonist Laverne De Fazio.
"Penny was a girl from the Bronx, who came out West, put a cursive 'L' on her sweater and transformed herself into a Hollywood success story,"
Rob Reiner, her husband of 10 years, had a divorce in 1981, but he has since taken twitter after her death and writes:
Marshall was treated 10 years ago for cancer of the brain and lung, but this was not her cause of death.
A "celebration of her life" will be planned by her family and the date will be released soon.
