OPINION: Is it just me or does Green MP Golriz Ghahraman comes across as a clichéd leftie who will never surprise you with her view on something.
What a week it's been for her - I'm not sure which position takes the organic carrot cake.
Okay, let's start with voting. Ghahraman want all prisoners to get the vote. Is this a major issue in society? No. Who's pining for this? Very few, just career criminal Arthur Taylor.
Then there's Kiwi jihadi Mark Taylor. Ghahraman has worked as part of a legal team defending a mass murderer and wants us to co-operate with foreign agencies and get him home. Can't wait for that.
Then, the pièce de résistance, Ghahraman wants to pass a law reducing the MMP threshold from 5 percent to 4 percent so that a small party - like say the Greens - can get into Parliament.
What? Did she really want such a blatant move to protect herself and her party? Yes, she did. Imagine if National was doing this, Ghahraman would be incredulous, outraged, she'd be huffing, puffing, effing and blinding. Seriously though, how did the Greens think they'd get away with that one?
