Women who refuse to name the father of their child currently face sanctions in the form of less benefits from welfare.
Based on the recommendations from the welfare expert advisory group that sanction has been removed with the government labelling it as "discriminatory".
Although many of the welfare expert advisory group’s recommendations are not being immediately enacted, for example, removing sanctions for failing or refusing drug-testing and for breaching arrest warrants.
Minister for Social Development Carmel Sepuloni joins Ryan Bridge on Magic Talk Drive to discuss. she told Ryan that the messge this sends is "we’re saying we’re not going to judge you, that we’re going to work with you, and we’re not going to penalise you for the fact that you cannot or will not name the other parent for whatever reason."
