Wellington residents are being urged to avoid travel or find another way to work after a freight train derailed on Tuesday night.
The incident happened at around 7:40pm and has damaged the tracks and points where the Hutt Valley and Kapiti lines merge.
A "pared back" train service was expected to resume in Wellington this afternoon from 4pm. Newshub Wellington reporter Adam Ray joins Magic Talk Drive to provide an update on how commuters have been "badly, badly affected.
Everybody in wellington is having a bad day commuting wise.
"It's a key conduit into the city... all it takes is a bit of damage and there is real chaos," he says.
