All Blacks play to the law of the game - Buck Shelford

Ryan Bridge 09/10/2019

Former All Black captain and coach Wayne ‘Buck’ Shelford joins Magic Talk Drive at the halfway point of the Rugby Tournament to discuss the All Black’s performance so far.

The conversation begins with a reflection former Ireland lock Neil Francis, writing in The Irish Independent, launched a scathing attack on the All Blacks, saying the two-time defending champions "cheat with impunity".

Shelford said in defense that the All Blacks play to the “law of the game” and “push the boundaries of what they can get away with.”

If the referee doesn’t pick you up, that’s the referee’s fault really.

He does not believe that referees go easy on the All Blacks as a result of their prestige, and that all teams push the boundaries of what is legal in the game.
