A review conducted by the Evidence-Based Policing Centre has found young people are more likely to have negative attitudes towards the police.
It also finds that a lack of maturity and self-control also play a part in how young people respond to authority.
The findings were part of a quarterly report in response to the March review of how the police managed pursuits.
