CEO Allan Kirk of New Zealand Motorcycle Safety Consultants joins Magic Talk Drive with Ryan Bridge to discuss the rising figures of motorcycle deaths in recent weeks.
Six riders have died on the roads in the past two weeks alone and as weather improves that figure is set to rise as more and more people take to the roads on their motorcycles.
Kirk tells Ryan that the lack of regulation for mandatory Anti-lock Braking Systems, ABS, in motorcycles is a failure of the New Zealand Transport Agency citing how it’s been over a decade since the systems became mandatory in countries across the world.
He then levels criticisms at the ACC offering Motorcycle training which he says is little more than a road test and does not adequately prepare riders what to look for when riding.
