Bus services run by one of the country’s largest operators, NZ Bus, will not be operating from Saturday due to the company suspending drivers engaging in strike action by not accepting fares.
The suspension will impact roughly 800 drivers causing wide ranging cancellations across many Auckland Bus routes.
Jared Abbott of First Union representing some of the striking drivers joins Ryan Bridge on Magic Talk Drive.
Asked if the union will be pulling back from strike action in order for drivers to be reinstated Jared told Ryan, “that’s not the feedback that we have been getting from our drivers.”
He goes on to say that it is up to the drivers to decide how they want to advance, not ruling out “further escalation” to better frustrate the company.
