Leah Panapa was in for Ryan Bridge on Drive, and spoke with Simon Doull, former international cricketer about Geoffrey Boycott’s comments on how women shouldn’t commentate on mens cricket games.
I’m not surprised by the comments and it’s not the first time,
Doull begins, explaining that there have been other incidents with his comments on women.
He goes on to say he understands what Boycott is trying to say, although “I don’t agree with him,” Doull stresses, and explains the comments were made poorly.
Whether they are male or female cricket commentators, Doull shares, it's important to give them the grounding and training so they are not thrust out of their depth into sports commentary.
