LISTEN: Auckland councillor Efeso Collins has revealed he is reconsidering his future in politics after receiving death threats for criticising TVNZ's Police Ten 7 programme.
The South Auckland councillor told Magic Talk's Danny Watson he has been on leave recently.
"It's been a really difficult few weeks," he said.
Fa'anana Efeso Collins was told by police an anonymous death threat had been made against him and his family and a bomb squad searched through his home.
"The police have been fantastic, they've been really thorough, they've been sensitive and they've kept us informed right the way through," Collins told Magic Talk.
No item of interest was found in his home.
Earlier this year, Collins had made vocal suggestions about Police Ten 7 as reinforcing negative stereotypes about Māori and Pacific peoples. The threat was made six weeks ago via the police's anonymous tip line, Collins said.
