LISTEN: Labour ministers are getting a self-drive electric vehicle paid for by taxpayers, Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins has told Magic Talk.
This was in response to a question he was asked by Magic Talk Drive host Ryan Bridge about how he plans to limit his CO2 emissions.
"We have got an electric vehicle on the way," he said.
"I have to confess it is a work supplied vehicle. So I'm just waiting for it to arrive."
According to Hipkins, all government ministers will be supplied with a personal self-drive electric vehicle that is paid for by taxpayers.
But don't expect to see ministers driving them anytime soon.
"I understand there is a wait time for getting electric vehicles into the country at the moment," he told Magic Talk.
Hipkins says the electric vehicle he is getting is a new Hyundai Kona.
