LISTEN: Abbas Nazari fled the Taliban when he was just seven years old. Now, he is urging Kiwis to welcome refugees who are fleeing Afghanistan 20 years later.
Nazari came to Aotearoa after he ended up on the Tampa, adrift at sea as a refugee, caught in an international political stand-off.
Speaking to Magic Talk, he is calling on New Zealand to resettle those fleeing violence in Afghanistan as the Taliban retakes control. He has written a book about his experiences called After The Tampa.
He spoke with Danny Watson and Leah Panapa.
