Another major NZ music festival cut short due to problematic MIQ system

Lloyd Burr 13/10/2021

LISTEN: Bay Dreams founder Mitch Lowe has told Lloyd Burr that the festival will no longer be able to go ahead as usual due to a lack of certainty around MIQ spots.

This leads to less international acts coming to NZ this summer, leaving festival goers with another watered down festival experience compared to previous years.

Lowe stated that international DJ act Netsky will still be coming to NZ but wanted to re-brand the shows that are going ahead as not to offer up a "watered down" version of the Bay Dreams brand to festival goers.

With the summer season looming over the horizon Lowe said they wanted to be able to offer certainty to festival goers rather than lots of "maybes" as international acts are still not a shoe in when it comes to the current MIQ system.
